Thanks to all of you for your comments, I appreciate them very much! Yes I know the colours are somewhat off, and here is why:
a) i am colourblind (red-green daltonian)
b) there were about 3 different electrical light sources (spot, neon, and bulb) which made it kind of tough for the white-balance
c) the jacket is really kind of orange rather then red
d) I had pushed saturation a bit in the entire picture, which made things worse and the "black" become purple without me noticing it
For the next color-theme I'll show it to someone to check the colors before I submit the photo...!
Good luck everybody!!! qp

I like your unique idea for the challenge it made for a good abstract. I think the light or exposure left this with an orange tint that washed over the black.

More orange than red, just a touch of Hue could improve

This is a cute idea and stays on theme but I think if you could have included a hand coming out of the jacket sleeve to hold a foot coming from the pants it might have given more "spark" to this love affair. :-) Good Luck@!

Good idea but I think you should have cropped closer to get a greater visual impact.

A neat idea. I think your white balance is a little off though. On my screens your red looks orange and your black a deep purple-ish color. You composition has an interesting dynamic to it.
A couple of things to think about. Tucking the zipper handle on the black coat back under the flaps would prevent it from pointing the viewer's eye out of the frame. To a lesser degree, the little patch of dimly lit orange near the bottom of the black coat also draws the eye to the edge.
