It's a great shot and very much in-theme! I think the dust is an integral part of the shot. I've played a lot of records, including 78's LOL, and dust was a part of it no matter how much you tried to keep from it. Every now and then a large fuzz ball would appear on the needle. Sometimes it would act as a broom, sweeping the remaining play. When a piece broke off, it was time to clean the needle LOL
Very nice shot!

As always, many thanks for the comments and votes.
Conanfuji--it is indeed a turntable; I figured that was fairly obvious from the picture, but it probably helped that I knew beforehand what it was, too.
Plebian--I'm glad you like it. The dust is definitely accentuated a lot by the flash and general lighting; I think I spent as much time dusting as photographing to get things appearing somewhat presentable, and it wasn't really dusty appearing (in normal light) to begin with.
hifi--I'm glad you like it, too; I was pleased with how this image came out. (With your nickname, I suppose you're bound to appreciate this kind of picture!)
Barr1e--welcome back! Hope you had a fine time.

Very nice! DoF is right where it needs to be. The reflection vibrations give the sense of a turning table and the dust... wouldn't be complete without that. Well done!

First, a confession: the extra info isn't quite precisely true. While the track is indeed Finlandia, the LP wasn't moving for the picture; when I tried with it rotating, the grooves were moving too quickly to see the waves nicely defined.
This is a 100% crop of a much larger picture. I'm not quite sure about the cropping at the bottom (especially the bottom right); the reflection of, umm, something (but I'm don't know what) is somewhat interesting but also somewhat distracting. Maybe cropping it out would be an improvement. The spots and squiggles that look rather like cloning or other inept post-processing are actually the wonderful bokeh of the S9000; no post-processing other than that listed was done.
Probably the hardest thing in making this shot was getting everything reasonably dust-free, as seems to be my experience with many macro sorts of shots.
