Love the mood set by this shot, and the progression of technology is well represented. In my TT.

thirties: I left the lights off in the room to capture a certain atmosphere and hopefully I did. Thank you for commenting.
Plebian: As you will see below I started out with 2 and then added the candles. I thought it worked quit well. Thank you for commenting.
Barr1e: Thank you for looking in hope it conveyed the theme.

I would have concentrated on any one of the three for the shot. The connection to theme, even for wax, wouldn't have been lost on me. Even so, this shot has something that is making it work.

I like the colours generated from the lights. The comp is a bit static with every thing in a straight line.

DrewE: The only thing I should have done was to move the electric lamp further away from the wall to eliminate some of the glare. My original intention was to shoot the coal oil lamp and the electric lamp side by side but after several shots I noticed my candle holder just off to the right of the scene and moved it in and was happy with the result.
Conanfuji: Although I had entered my shot several days before the end of the contest I was a little concerned as I was running the sideshow that somehow it was left out. I've never had my shot so near the end of the list. Thank you for your comment.
goodjohn: As I looked through the lens I had the same thought, that it created a nice atmosphere. Thank you for your comment.

This photo stood out to me in my first pass through, and it still does. You do an excellent job of showing the progress in lighting technologies from primitive to (relatively) modern; a unique and thoughtful take on the theme. Exposure looks good for what could be a really difficult scene. A background without such strong vertical seams would be an improvement to my eye, but one has to make do with what one has. A light background would ruin the feel of the shot.
Definitely in my top ten. Good luck!
