nlm, I've never shot a dSLR so it would only be a guess. Could the 1/4 sec. exposure have something to do with it? Might just be a combination of things. Exposure time, possible hard use prior to shot heating the sensor, hot conditions, post work/ work flow, etc. I think it works quite well in this shot but it would be good to know the why's behind it being there. That way, if it's a real problem you can get it fixed, if not a real problem you could reproduce the effect for shots like this.
Anyway, still a fine shot.

Thanks to everyone for the comments. I'm quite humbled that it made 3rd place. It was literally an 11th hour idea. At first I was going to do an empty toothpaste tube. Glad that I didn't since it turns out a couple other people did it (rather well, I might add). Yes, I decided to have a single light source from the bottom rather than use the regular bathroom lighting. I like the impact that the bottom light adds. Only thing that concerns me is the noise that several of you brought up. I didn't even notice it at first and didn't intentionally add it. I wouldn't have thought that my Canon 10D would produce this much noise at ISO200. Any thoughts on the cause? Dirty sensor?

Excellent composition. Was this lit from below? A little unusual. Well done overall.

Excellent crop for comp! Exposure is very good. DoF also very good. Some noise but no worries. B/W conversion is well done. Good job!

This immediately reminds of the very interesting fact that teenagers today simply do not have the skill to replace such a very empty roll! ;-) I think the black-and-white version of this very familiar scene adds to the empty feeling. Well done and good luck.

Classic, good exposure, clarity, and tone. The worst part is when the extra rolls are still at the superstore..... :-) .... good luck and I hope it all worked out for you. dp
