'Where are the songs of Spring? Ay, where are they?' (John Keats) Welcome to Fujimugs. Great debut. The web cam shot was amazing. I found your blog. The woodland panorama was attractive but check out the freeware Panorama Perfect ( (LINK) ). You'll find it handy for making the joins disappear.

Hi GJC41, Patrick and Plebian,
Thanx for the warm welcome and compliments. Patrick I'm afraid spring is keeping its breath, because it is really pooring in Holland...bleh. Already thinking what to do with the next challenge.

Hi zoom, Well done on your first contest, and welcome by the way...
without the colored bike, not sure if anything would have been said. Great eye, or 'minds' eye!
appreciate your comments of my 'depression entry.'
happy Spring!

You did a very good job with this. Leaving the bike in an otherwise drab winter shot really works and you did it well.

Dear Tancalvin, Njsiva, AWR, Chefziggy, Psyther, Broph, BC, Citymars, XXPOZURE:
Thanx for all your nice comments... the orange bike has stood on this very lamppost year after year. But the day after I had taken this picture, it had mysteriously disappeared...weird. Makes the picture extra special for me.
Chefziggy thanx for your review and the link to learn more about layer masks, hope to learn a lot more... Loved your entry on the previous challenge by the way.
BC...well I think you are right about that... sounds horrible...I don't mind snow, even love it, but just the day before this picture was taken, I had walked barefoot outside, the sun in my face and a blue sky above. The snow was a bit of a shock to me and I was just feeling a bit sorry for myself. But I think you win this one, hope this picture will refresh you more then onces.
XXPOZURE...if you want a copy that's fine by me...I have the copyright of course. But you are the first one ever to want a picture that I have taken...so I'm honoured. Mail me and I'll send it to you.

In my first draft of favorites, but aside from the coloring technique (well done, by the way) not enough to grab me in this composition.

Not to fret, it's only a couple of centimeters. Makes for lots of fun on the bike too. At least you're getting some variety. Where I am now, the weather is absolutely monotonous; 32 daytime, 27 at night with the odd shower in the afternoon. Day after day, so predictable! Your shot is very refreshing and I thank you.

Taken from a very nice position to include both lamp posts. These lamp posts and the trees lead the eyes to the door on the left and makes us wonder who has left her bike against the post and entered. I hadn't tried isolating a color before but after seeing this shot I took one of my own of a solitary monarch butterfly in a tree and isolated it and was very happy with the results. Thank you for the idea and the interesting photo.

Nice use of selective color. I'll add a link below to a layer mask tutorial that might help you do this easier in the future.
I didn't really get any emotion from this though. Maybe a glimmer of hope, but not as much as a snow covered buttercup might give. Technically it's a good shot. Just doesn't give me personally much mood to go on.

Actually your method of B&W conversion has worked very well with this image. Perhaps a nice and contrasty scene as is makes this beautiful. The coloured cycle is a great touch. Well done, gets a vote from me.
