yes Chef, I am by any chance 'Alien' creator too :) please read my reply to gingerbaker below..There is everything I can say about how was this image created...However if you have any questions, I am happy to answer them...and just need to add, that I took tens of shots, and just a few were acceptable for display really!

This one made my faves list because of the great detail in the flame and the striking composition against a good black background. Are you by any chance the author of the 'Alien' shot in the main Challenge? Please do tell us how you achieved such nice flame patterns.

JOHNIMAGE & DJPROV > I can't agree with you on 'too centralized' composition...putting circle-shape like this a bit to the left or right would just look really stupid...
GINGERBAKER > Yeah,I agree here.it isn't perfectly sharp, but it is really tough with shots like this...I didn't have much time (& patience to be honest) to play with the setup for long..and my friend was just too tired (and had burned fingers :) to spray flammable gas to the air while I was having fun with my S602... You asked, how I did this..nothing special really...He sat right in the front of me, spraying the flame towards me. It was dark in the room, so it was easy to get nice exposure, but not easy to focus ...With F8 this image would be just too dark...
Thanks to everyone for feedback...this challenge was fun once again!

Neat shot, my only criticism is that it is so centered. I like the fire you have captured. Good luck, dp ... oh you are in my TT.

This may have been my no. 1 pick had the right side been in sharp focus. And I know this may have been no fault of yours - but I see it as a fatal flaw of the image.
Otherwise, it is just too cool to put in words! How did you do this?
I love the intense contrast of subject and background, the swirling intensity of the flames, the scale of the flames themselves to the ball, and the slight imperfect form of the ball itself, with the arm of fire peeling off at the top.
The dead center framing seems to work. A really good abstract. If only you had used f8?
Best regards,
GB

I like the simplicity of this image. The ball-of-flame might have been shifted left or right to make it less centric. It's in my FAVs.
