Great photo - my #1 choice. My wife and daughter are cursing you though, as I've been puttering around all week singing the song. John

Wow! With all the great photos in this challenge, it's certainly an honor to be in the top ten. Thanks to everyone who commented and voted.
And Plebian, your comment made my day. We have similar feelings about this song.
Thanks also goes to my son, who patiently (well, as patient as a 16-year-old gets) served as my model while I futzed around with the lighting and the camera. Maybe he'll be a juke box hero someday.

I like the effect you've gone for, but the image looks a little too soft for me.

An interesting work! Wow, a 5 second exposure -- your subject had to hold real still... You've pushed the pp very hard on this. I feel that it has crossed over into digital art. That's cool, just not really to my tastes. Good luck -- it will be interesting to me to see how folks react to your pic.

Mean and moody, creative lighting, this should do well.

I'm sure this will appeal to some, but I just haven't ever been a fan of this style photo.

Nicely done and the lighting is sweet, it gives a sense of actually being played on stage. It would even make for a great CD cover, however without a Juke box this could possibly be interpreted as almost any song including maybe...... 'cold as ice'. Best of luck it should do quite well even if the title is questionable. Cheers!

Great example of black and. I love the stark contrast - I can feel the emotion behind the song.

So simple and elegant. Not even a fan of the song, particularly, but am giving this my #1 vote. Beautiful.

Wow....getting your model to stand still for 5 secs and it's still not overly blurry....great. I like the tratment on this, looks like one of those stage/concert shots from a documentary....I hope this does well. In my Faves!

Rock and roll dream...nice photo love the 'trasty' look of your image, the composition is also pleasing and the soft focus works for me. One of my favorites. Good luck. dp

Is this wha tthey call 'high key'? Looks very much like material for an album cover. Nice composition and the hard b/w treatment is enhanced by the white outlines. Nice pic.
It looks as if the backlighting is missing in some parts where it would have been nice to have just for the flow of the pic (guitar neck for example).

Wow! I know this tune well and this image cannot be any better. The dramatic lighting and positioning compliments the song precisely. How the song builds in tension and expectation then backs away, teasing the day when he takes his place on stage. Again, the excitement builds... soon. Finally, an explosive crescendo realizing the dream. Yes, this image, with his head hung low giving remembrance of that day in the rain, and now in the spotlight with his guitar slung low... his clipped shadow bringing the past and present together... and in his hands, that one guitar. This is a very strong image, and with the song, even that much more so. Don't know about anybody else, but I find this photo jaw dropping. The entire song is culminated in this one image in a powerful way. Damn fine job!!!

The image and tune are in sync. Your choice to desat & very-high contrast works. Composition is spot-on. In my TT.

Very well done. Problem with heavy contrast is if it adds something. Melancholy, dramatism or the like. I think you did a great job in this one. Good luck!

Now this is a picture! Just enough detail to see what is going on but blurred enough to make you use your imagination! I like it a lot - well done!

I've always liked that song....
Great work getting the feel of the song. That 'one guitar' is all we get and all we need. Creative lighting in use here folks! I would prefer the details to be bit clearer though. You went for a more gritty feel and I can respect that. Composition is spot on. I can almost see the crowd out there in the darkness... IMF
