Thanks for the comments and the votes. Kind of stumbled across this picture while I was out shooting something else. Noticed all the cracks in the ground and thought 'Ah ha! Schism!'

I agree that it probably would have been better if I had taken the pic on more of an angle. I'll keep that in mind.

Shudder, I checked out that page and I'll give it a try. Thanks. I'll post the results.

A cheeky title and a nicely composed shot, I like it.

I like the 'natural' crack of this stone. Nice texture and well contrasted.
In my top ten.

Almost has the appearance of a makedo cement mix that was brittle. Have to assume it's earth because of the canyon reference. Good take either way.

The almost monochrome colors are great. The schism is obvious.

Indeed it does, and every TT image adds a little to the total. Well done.

Clever and well done. Excellent composition. I bet it would look great as a high contrast b/w conversion as well. Might look real good with Jeff T. Alu's process applied.

This has a lot of 'punch.' Detail, color, and composition are pleasing too. Lighting is perfect but, I might have preferred a different camera angle.

Nice photo. In my tt. I might have cropped some of the right side. If the crack were not directly in the middle, it would be more pleasing, IMHO. Still very nice and I like the Title.

I had hoped to come across a crack in the soil or asphalt somewhere, but no such luck.... You on the other hand... The triple division is nice. Perhaps I would not have minded if you had looked for a more creative viewpoint than straight-on, you might have enhanced the feeling of depth. Good find nonetheless.

I have added this to my top 10 due to it's potential. Did you try different times of the day to add shadows to the mountains (around the Canyon :-) or Tourch light at night/evening? This may have saved the darkening/cloning of the gap?

Good vision.
