The day after I took photos of the rising moon, my daughter and I were playing basketball in the driveway. The basketball twirling through the net inspired the manipulation of my photo to create this Abstract.

Abstraction through post work just doesn't meet the spirit of the challenge to me. This is overdone on the post.

To someone who does not know the ins and outs of post-processing, your image might have a special look to it. However, Twirl is such a one-step manipulation in PS that to many of us in here, the use of this filter might seem a tad bit trite. I am having a hard time getting past that. The blues and yellows do really complement one another and give the image some striking lift.

I picked this as one of my favorites. This challenge seems to be just as challenging for voting as it was for taking the pics. I have been using as my personal criteria, abstract that was in original photo-75%, and photo enhancement 25%. I guess there has been some heated debate on what constitutes photography, and what constitutes PP skills and manipulation. But I picked this pic because I think it was a great concept, and I am giving credit for that. Makes me think how the moon might look being sucked into a black hole....
Great idea and nice work...

A nice piece of digital art, really striking. Comes the main question:

what is the use of having exposure details with a work of digital art? I am not able to see what job you did on the photography part of the deal, and regardless of the result which is great by the way, what amount of control you were able to exert on the filters used.
So if there were a category for digiart you would have my vote. As for photography, I will not be of any help to your ranking I am afraid...

Nice original idea. Pleasing image. I liked it more after I read the background info. I'm undecided on how much weight background info ought to have in my selection process. Still, it's an interesting image.

A very good idea, and the way you were inspired adds to its interest

I think the shot of the moon is pretty good, but I didn't really care for the swirling.

Yet another entry which has gone beyond blurring the boundaries of digital art and photography. I like it, but I don´t think it´s appropriate for a photography challenge.

Very creative but more Photoshop than abstract to my eye.

Terrific work. I might have added a bit more realism to the moon but, I love the spiral.
