Our coastal town is experiencing a construction boom along the beach front as never before, including the futuristic example in this photograph. Locals are in two minds about the benefits of all this progress.
It is just a pity this large advertising banner is not placed in such a way that I could get a similar view of the building under contruction in the background.

Thanks for the positive comments and support during the voting process. This my best result in my sad Fujimugs participation record! I see this as a continuous learning process!

Dave - nothing was pasted, stretched, coloured, distorted or otherwise injured, in the process to capture this picture. In the front of this new building is a massive advertising billboard with the architect's and estate agent's marketing department's vision of this building to be. I simply catured a part of this billboard with the contstruction process in the background.

The large green coloured areas on the billboard show areas of the building that will be covered in copper sheeting. In time the copper cladding will take up the natural green rusted copper look. Atlantica will be a new landmark in our area. For more details take a look at the following URL:

Disclaimer: I am in now way conected with this building project.

Lyk my hy lees nie beskrywings nie.

I like the idea, but the shot doesn't set me on fire. That's a personal view, so despite that I hope you do well. I like the colours very much!

Nice touch capturing the building mid-construction.

Very interesting that this shot came up right next to the previous one. Similar ideas but from different perspectives. I do agree that it would have been better if you could have gotten the sign and the building in a better juxtaposition, but sometimes you can't have it all.

I like the colors, but I think a lower angle (camera position backed away) would have conveyed your intent a little better. Good work all the same!

This is pretty good, but might have worked a bit better for me if you'd stepped back a bit more -- so that the entire banner (or at least the entire building on the banner) were in the frame. This also would have brought the angle of view down a little bit which may have revealed more of the actual buidling in progress. I also like the double entendre of your title (concrete as real, and concrete as, well, concrete!).

This captures the architectural them quite well. The sign's building looks (almost) real and blends into the new construction. IMO: The combo make the shot appear too busy.

This is a weird shot. I can't really see what the hell is going on, looks like 2 pictures amalgamated. The futuristic building in the front looks like it's been pasted on top and has been stretched a bit becuase it looks really flat. The plam trees at the right jut look wrong too, they look like they have had the colour of the top building behind them at one stage. Infact it looks more like the little building was stretched as the palm trees infront of it are at a weird angle comapred to the other trees just up from it. I don't think that can be blamed on lens distortion.

Hmmm, very strange.

I had the idea to take exactly this kind of shot of this building. The only reason I didn't was because they don't have any of the copper sheeting up yet. Now I see yours, it's good that I chose another subject.
