Post-Processing:
These were two raw images joined together, one taken for the sky and one for the ground. I ran the bottom image through Neat Image as it was a bit noisy. Cloned out some red flare. Adjusted levels. Added the sky image as a second layer and merged it in with a layer mask. Flattened.
Extra Info:
The sun had just come up and I was travelling with friends in their car. The sun had just risen and we were moving into overcast rainy conditions. The light on the rails at the side of the ribbon of road was just perfect and dramatic. I quickly shot two images as we sped along.

Nicely done, especially from a moving auto. Nicely done combining two shots to. Nice to see someone combine shots without using HDR. GL

Thanks so much for all the great comments! I have travelled this road so many times and photographed it over and over but this time I was just so excited to be there at the just that time. It is true, one should have a camera with one always and I do try to!

Wow, this is such a dramatic shot! The post processing sounds way too complex for me, but I love what you achieved with it. High in my TT.

A good example of why we should always have a camera handy. You couldn't have planned it any better. The great scene combined with some skilled technical adjustments make this a winner.
