Thank you everyone who took the time to comment.
I didn't expect to do so well but it is hard to take a bad picture in Venice. The Sun is a bit of a blob, I think a side effect of the F31 not being able to handle the dynamic range too well. My other camera was resolving the Sun better. I've placed another version of the same scene taken with my other camera, admittedly taken as the Sun has got lower in the sky in an Out-takes thread in the Forum.
I got this picture the 1st night I was there, so the holiday started on a high. :-)
Thanks again everyone who commented and also to those who voted for the picture.

Nice sillhouette with golden tones. Not a fan of the big white 'sun' but the rest of the pic is wonderful. TT

Pretty shot. I like the slightly squarer crop, which shows more of the sun's reflection in the water.

This is a beautiful image and I can see why you became obsessed with the subject :)
It would have been higher in my TT if the sun wasn't quite so blown out. Perhaps if you'd waited a little longer?
