it is 'le pic du midi' a famous observatory in the french pyrenees.
I took this pic during a trek with a friend and thought it could fit the challenge when i came back at home :-)

@Nyonin: i think yes, all the things you're talking about are caused by the pp. The pic has been taken at 400mm and the crop surely did not help...
@P_: simple clouds in mountains... not volcanic gasses. The pic has been taken at the french pyrenees ;-)

Nice moody pic and composition.
I see a lot of blotchiness in the sky - is this a result of the filtering/denoising applied or has the pic suffered from downsizing for the challenge? At this size the hillside also looks rather noisy in a 'soft' sort of way - but I wouldn't be surprised if this were to resolve itself into nice satisfying detail at a larger size.
In my favourites for mood and composition. :-)

In theme and composed very well, the silhouette is cool and I love the clouds. The image does appear to be a bit soft. Good luck, dp.
